Night lenses changed my life | Mary Anthony

Meet Mary Anthony, a mom of teenage soccer players (you know, one of those soccer moms on the sideline who shout and cheer), a fan of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) like Les Mills Grit Cardio and Body Combat, and a night lens user. We connected over Zoom to chat about how night lenses have transformed her life…

Q: Hello Mary, how long have you been using night lenses?

A: Wow, it’s been about 4 years now! Time really flies, doesn’t it?

Q: How did you discover night lenses?

A: I used to wear glasses because I had nearsightedness. However, I’m quite active, whether it’s with my fitness routines, driving, or cheering for my boys during soccer games. Glasses just couldn’t keep up. During my workouts, they’d bounce around, and sweat would cause them to slide down my face. After wearing them for extended periods, driving became uncomfortable for my ears. And when it came to watching my boys play soccer in rainy Scotland, I had to constantly take them off to wipe away raindrops. It became a real hassle. When I compared night lenses to daytime lenses, the choice was clear – everything happens while I’m asleep, nothing to fuss about. They’re fantastic!

Q: You mentioned your passion for fitness. What kind of activities do you enjoy, and how have night lenses made a difference?

A: I’m really into High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Les Mills, and Grit Cardio. In Grit Cardio, you push yourself to the limit for 30 minutes with exercises like burpees, high knees, and running in place. My heart rate goes up to 198, so you can imagine that glasses would fog up and slip off due to sweat. A few years ago, I used to do Sprint bike classes, which involved looking at a big screen, so I needed my glasses. Nowadays, many fitness routines involve screens. Doing HIIT with glasses was a real challenge, and looking back, if I hadn’t switched to night lenses, I’d probably be doing less of it.

Q: So, night lenses have truly changed your life?

A: Absolutely, it’s like night and day. They are fantastic, and I believe everyone should consider them. I wake up in the morning with clear vision and don’t have to rely on anything else. No constant adjusting on my face, no squinting to see clearly, no worries about leaving glasses at the gym and having them stepped on. As I mentioned with my HIIT workouts, which I’m really passionate about, these past few years have been more fulfilling because glasses no longer hold me back.

Q: Would you ever go back to glasses?

A: Definitely not – no chance! I put in my night lenses, forget about them, and my vision stays clear throughout the day. I can even spot my son on the soccer field! I can’t stress enough how much my life as a soccer mom in rainy Scotland has improved. Wind and rain used to make my life miserable with rain-splattered glasses that impaired my vision. Now I can stand there without any issues. I’m too used to the routine now and can get on with my day.

Q: I think I can guess, but would you recommend them to others?

A: Absolutely, 100%. Once you start using them, you’ll wonder why you ever considered anything else.

[Editor: After all that talk about HIIT, I feel pretty exhausted and quite out of shape! 🙂 ]
