Contracts that go in at night and do their work while you sleep, and then to have perfect vision when you wake up
what’s not to like about it!
My son has been using the Ortho K lenses since 2014. He was about 9 – 10 yrs old.
What was he in before? (glasses / day lenses?)
He was wearing both – sometimes glasses but most times contact lenses.
How have these lenses changed his life?
The simple fact that he is able to see without having to wear or use anything during the day is amazing. He can carry on as if he has perfect vision.
What does he think is the best thing about them?
That it’s easy and that the contacts do their work while he is sleeping. Nothing to it. He puts them in when he goes to bed and removes them when he wakes up and like a miracle, he has 20/20 vision when he takes them off in the morning.
What do you as a parent think is best about them?
Everything that I mentioned above, but most of all, that it’s a simple process. It has just become a part of his nightly routine. Easy and nothing to think about.
Do you think you’ll switch back to glasses / day lenses?
My son will not switch back to glasses. He never liked wearing them and only did when he had to. Contacts are a hassle especially when you play sports – you have to worry about them coming out or losing them during the day and if you do, you can’t see! This system is perfect for him.
Why would you recommend them to other parents?
It’s so easy! Contacts that go in at night and do their work while you sleep, and then to have perfect vision when you wake up – what’s not to like about it! I have recommended it to all of my friends and many of their kids who qualified have gone on the program. My daughter also wanted to but unfortunately did not qualify.
Anything else you’d like to say?
Great program! We weren’t sure at first and were a bit sceptical but my son has had great success with it over the almost 10 years he’s been on it so we recommend it to everyone. Also it has stabilized his vision so that’s the added bonus. That was the reason we went on it in the first place as his vision was consistently getting worse very quickly. He can often even go more than 1 or 2 days without using them and still see well enough if he did ever forget to put them in. They are awesome and we are really glad that we took Dr Thakrar’s advice to try the Ortho K lenses.
Any notes about myopia control achieved: His prescription was higher I believe and since using the lenses, either they have become better or they have at least stabilized. Feel free to ask Dr Thakrar about this as she would be able to confirm in better detail.
