Night Lenses – Professional sports

No Contact Lenses – No Glasses – No Laser Surgery

The gap between grabbing gold or silver, snagging the first spot or the second, clinching victory or facing defeat, often comes down to fractions of a second, the blink of an eye, your reflexes, and the synchronization of your brain, body, and eyes at a precise instant.

For many professional athletes, sports glasses, regular eyeglasses, or daytime lenses don’t make the cut. Having something on their face or in their eyes can be distracting, vulnerable to sweat, forced movements, or the constant worry of them getting displaced.

Night lenses are a breakthrough revolution causing a stir in the world of sports. Slide in your custom-made lenses before bed, and while you rest, they work their magic, fine-tuning your vision. Wake up with spot-on eyesight. Remove the lenses upon waking, ready to compete with perfect 20/20 vision and unencumbered eyes – no need for glasses, daytime lenses, or even the laser surgery that many feel compelled to go through.

Night lenses changed my life | Catriona Morrison MBE | Duathlon World Champion, medal winner Triathlon & Ironman

Catriona Morrison is a true ace in the world of Duathlon (bike and running), boasting multiple world championships under her belt. She also clinched a bronze medal in the long-distance Triathlon World Championships (that’s a 3.8k swim, 180km bike, and a whopping 42km run) and has dominated various Ironman events across the globe.

In 2015, Catriona gracefully retired from the competitive scene and channeled her boundless energy into youth initiatives back home in her beloved Scotland. These days, she’s a guiding light for the younger generation, and she’s also a co-founder of the impressive Everactiv sportswear brand aimed at empowering young women. Through this brand, they’re diving into projects and community initiatives to light up the path for young women, inspiring them along the way.

“If you’re a contact lens wearer you risk dislodging the lens and so you think about that. Sports glasses feel sweaty and can steam or smear, so you think about them too. To put a top performance together you need to dot all the ‘I’s and cross all the ‘T’s. It would have been a very different story if I had all that background worry about goggles coming off during the swim or dislodging a lens during a race. All I do now is put one lens in and take one lens out. All done. Nothing in my eyes for the rest of the day and the race. Why wouldn’t you want to control the uncontrollable? So many things are uncontrollable in a race – why not control it?”

Night lenses changed my life | Euan Speirits – downhill mountain bike racer, surgeon

Dr. Euan Speirits is a Scottish surgeon who’s deeply invested in Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, and Biomechanical Research. He’s not only an Orthopaedic Research Fellow and Registrar but also a Ph.D. student, and his heart beats for Sports Medicine. He takes an active role in Strength and Conditioning training, as well as the overall wellbeing of athletes.

Beyond his medical prowess, he’s known in racing circles as “Rossi,” a force to be reckoned with as an Elite 4X and Downhill Mountain Bike Racer. (In fact, he snagged the title of Scottish Mountain Biking ‘Hero of the Year’ in 2017!) Not stopping there, he’s also the brain behind #4XWEDNESDAYS, a charitable initiative. And that’s not all – he’s even dabbled in International Tennis and reached the pinnacle of British Premiere Basketball.

Quite the impressive resume, wouldn’t you say?

“Night lenses have genuinely revolutionised my sports career. It means I can go for a day of competition with zero distraction of eye dry and have a normal life with no need to consider using contacts or wondering whether they will dry out. Everyone at some point wearing daytime lenses has had them move in their eye and felt the ‘grate’. The knowledge that you don’t have that in high performance sport is a huge difference. No difference between what you can see and what you interpret. No compromise. Your vision is your own. I’m surprised more people don’t wear them. The bottom line is that my life would not be in the position it would be if I had continue wearing contact lenses. I would never have achieved so much in mountain biking without the freedom that night lenses give me. Full stop. Seriously – check them out!”
