Night lenses changed my life | Mary Anthony
In this interview with Mary Anthony, a mother of teenage footballers and a fitness enthusiast, we discuss how night lenses have positively impacted her life:
Q: Hi Mary, how long have you been wearing night lenses?
A: Mary: It’s been about 4 years now. Time flies, doesn’t it?
Q: How did you get into wearing night lenses?
A: Mary: I initially wore glasses because I was short-sighted. However, with my active lifestyle, glasses became quite impractical. During my fitness routines, they would jiggle around and sweat would cause them to slip down my face. After a long work session with glasses on, driving afterward was uncomfortable for my ears. And when it came to watching my boys play football, living in rainy Scotland meant I was constantly taking them off to dry them. It was a hassle. So, when I learned about night lenses as an alternative to day lenses, it was a no-brainer for me. Everything happens while I sleep, and I have nothing to worry about. It’s great!

A: Mary: I’m into High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Les Mills, and Grit Cardio, where you push yourself to the max for 30 minutes with activities like burpees and high knees. My heart rate goes up to 198, so you can imagine how glasses would steam up and fall off my face due to sweat. A few years ago, I used to do Sprint classes on bikes, but that required me to look at a big screen, so I’d need my glasses. Nowadays, many fitness activities involve screens, and HIIT is particularly challenging with glasses. Looking back, I believe that if I hadn’t switched to night lenses, I would be doing less of it.
Q: So, night lenses have genuinely been life-changing for you?
A: Mary: Absolutely, it’s like night and day. They are fantastic, and I believe everyone should consider them. I wake up in the morning with clear vision and don’t have to rely on anything. No more adjusting glasses on my face, squinting to focus, or worrying about where to place my glasses at the gym. As I mentioned, with HIIT and other activities I’m passionate about, the world has opened up for me because glasses no longer hold me back.
Q: Would you ever go back to wearing glasses?
A: Mary: Definitely not – no chance! I put in my night lenses before bed, don’t have to worry about them, and my vision is clear all day. I can even spot which boy is my son on the football pitch without any issues. I can’t express enough how much night lenses have improved my life as a football mom in rainy Scotland. Wind and rain used to make my life miserable with rain-splattered glasses that I couldn’t see through. Now, I can just stand there normally. I’m also too accustomed to the routine now, and it’s become a seamless part of my day.
Q: I suspect I know the answer to this question, but would you recommend night lenses to others?
A: Mary: Absolutely, 100%! Once you start wearing them, you’ll wonder why you ever wore anything else.
