Night lenses chat | Catherine, 46 β I wish I knew about them earlier
In this nightlenses.com chat, we had a Zoom conversation with Catherine, who recently transitioned to night lenses from glasses and contact lenses. Catherine wished she had known about night lenses years ago and shared her experience:
Q. So, Catherine, what difference have night lenses made to your life? Why do you love them?
Catherine: Oh my goodness, it’s all the little day-to-day things. I used to wear glasses every single day for distance, especially in the last year. I got tired of coming in from shopping in the rain with glasses on, a mask on, my face steamed up, glasses steamed up, and then trying to wipe them to get rid of the rain. The last few years with glasses have been a nightmare for me. I did try contact lenses β dailies, monthlies β but they never seemed to work for me. I later found out that I have dry eyes. I tried different brands, but my eyes would get red, and I’d have to remove them after a while because they were irritating my eyes. I couldn’t wear them for a full day.
Q. So, all those issues are gone now?
Catherine: Yes, they are completely gone! For me, putting these little lenses in at night β I simply pop them in before I go to sleep, ‘pop’ ‘pop,’ and that’s it. I go to sleep, and as I’m fast asleep, I’m not even aware that I’m wearing anything. I wake up, take them out, and I have perfect vision! I literally can’t believe that I can see everything! My optician even says that I have better than 20/20 vision. It’s amazing!
Q. In the past, when you woke up, you didn’t have your glasses on, so you’d have to find your glasses or lenses to see. But now you wake up, look outside, and see clearly?
Catherine: Exactly! The first night I put my lenses in, it was so exciting, like Christmas. I got up in the morning and could see with the lenses in, but I didn’t want to look at anything outside the window just yet. I went and took the lenses out, which only took a couple of minutes. Then, I went to the window, as that’s what you do in the morning. Previously, everything would have been a blur, or I would have had to find my glasses, but I just remember that I was amazed. I could see everything! All the birds, the garden β it was all crystal clear!
Q. You seem to have a great sense of fashion. How has night lenses affected your fashion choices?
Catherine: I used to feel miserable because I had to wear my glasses every single day. When I’d go out at night, my glasses wouldn’t look great with my outfits. So, the fact that I can go out without glasses, without contact lenses that irritate my eyes or make them red, is awesome. I can wear hats again! You don’t think about these things, but some hats don’t look good with glasses. Now, I can put on anything without worrying, “Does this look right with my glasses?” or “Does this not look right with my glasses?” It’s an amazing feeling.
Q. We spoke to someone recently who said, “I can wear whatever sunglasses I like!”
Catherine: That’s another one β I have lots of funky sunglasses. They’re not expensive, just little funky shades without a prescription, and I can wear them now β in the car when I’m driving and whenever I want, especially with all the recent sunshine.

Catherine: Gardening is huge. When you wear glasses, you bend down a lot, and your glasses inevitably slide down your face. I’d have mud on my hands, so I’d use my elbow to push them back up. They’d get in the way, and eventually, I’d have to take my glasses off. But then, I couldn’t see in the distance, so I had to put them back on. Being free, not having to touch your face, is amazing.
Q. Night lenses have truly been life-changing for you. However, many people don’t believe they are real or have never heard of them. That’s why we do these awareness campaigns with real people who use them. What would you say to the “previous you” from two years ago or to others watching this and thinking, “Is this real? Are these real?”
Catherine: They’re like magic! They are literally like magic. I tell all my friends and family about them. You just pop them in before you go to sleep, and they’re so easy to use. You’re fast asleep anyway, so you don’t even feel like you have anything in your eyes. When you wake up, you take them out, and your vision is completely corrected β it’s amazing, just like magic!
Q. So, to state the obvious, you would recommend night lenses?
Catherine: As your title says, “I wish I knew about these years ago!” I’ve been wearing glasses since my 20s, and if only I could have done this back then, I wouldn’t have had all the little day-to-day hassles that come with glasses. If you have irritated eyes from daily contact lenses or if you get irritated eyes in general, then this is just mind-blowing!
Thank you Catherine!
